And today (13 January 2021), the prestigious brand is taking orders for its British Airways x Globe-Trotter BOAC Limited Edition Carry-on Suitcase – of which only 150 are being made.
Designed to commemorate the retirement of the British Airways BOAC 747, the carry-on suitcase takes inspiration from the iconic BOAC livery of dark blue and white with the golden ‘Speedbird’ insignia, the latest collaboration model is made from high gloss vulcanised fibreboard with a metallic sheen for a pearlescent white shimmer, which is complemented by Navy leather trim on the corners and handles. A hand-painted gold Speedbird insignia adorns the exterior, while a piece of history is added to the interior where a precious fragment taken from a British Airways Boeing 747 decorates the inside lid.

British Airways and Globe-Trotter have a long standing and proud history of collaboration dating back to the 1960s, when Globe-Trotter was the luggage brand of choice for BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) crew with style, strength and durability being key factors in their partnership.
Other notable collaborations between British Airways and Globe-Trotter include the popular and glamourous collection inspired by BOAC air stewardess Hilary Farish with her 1960s suitcase which was completely covered in stickers from her extensive travels. She became known as the ‘Queen of the Skies’ and the Boeing 747s epitomised the glamorous age of air travel in the 1960s and early 1970s.
