April 4th 2023 will see the launch of the latest Bulgari Hotel, this time in the Japanese capital. Occupying the 40th to the 45th floors of the 2-2-1 Yaesu skyscraper in Chuo-ku, the hotel overlooks the Imperial Palace with citywide views across to Mount Fuji. It finds a home midtown, in one the most attractive districts in Tokyo, celebrating both Japanese and Italian traditions throughout the property.
A new home in Yaesu
The Roman jeweller has been present in Japan for three decades, but this is its first foray into hospitality in Tokyo. It joins a collection which comprises properties in Milan, Bali, London, Beijing, Dubai, Shanghai and Paris, as well as upcoming openings in Rome (2023), the Maldives and Miami (2025) and Los Angeles (2026). Yaesu is named after the Dutch adventurer Jan Joosten van Lodensteyn, known in Japanese as Yayōsu and is within walking distance of the iconic red brick Tokyo Station and the financial districts of Nihombashi and Marunouchi, with the vibrant shopping area of Ginza on the doorstep.
Italian contemporary style and glamour
Like all Bulgari hotels, the hotel has been designed by the Italian architecture and interior firm ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. Guests will recognise the Maison’s characteristic codes across the public spaces and 98 bedrooms, alongside brands like Maxalto, Flexform and B&B Italia. The finest of them all, is the Bulgari Suite; with cutting-edge tech and spanning 400 square metres, it’s among the largest of its kind in Tokyo and can be further extended when connected to an adjoining suite.

Sushi Hōseki
Embark on an exclusive, one-of-a-kind culinary journey at Sushi Hōseki, the Japanese dining concept which has already enjoyed success at the Bulgari Resort Dubai. Just eight seats overlook a private Japanese rock garden, with cultural references such as the pine tree and the ishi-dōrō stone lantern. Chef Kenji Gyoten (who has previously been awarded three Michelin Stars at Sushi Gyoten) will perform Omakase, meaning “I leave it to you”, for a very special tailor-made experience. This is complemented by a modern and minimal interior, including a counter made from a single piece of hinoki wood as per the ancient Japanese tradition.
Signature wining and dining
The Italian Il Ristorante is led by chef Niko Romito (also in receipt of three Michelin stars for his Reale restaurant in Abruzzo) and presents a canon of contemporary Italian cooking. Overlooking the city lights, it has a capacity for up to 80 covers. On the way to Il Ristorante, you’ll find the Lounge, where guests can recline in an armchair beside a roaring fire. Bulgari Dolci boutique serves the Bulgari ‘chocolate gems’ delicious creations and, a selection of traditional Italian pastries are available from the La Pasticceria – Niko Romito menu.
Views of Mount Fuji
The Bulgari Bar, set on the 45th floor, features a handmade mosaic bar counter representing a ‘garden of wonders’. While outside, there are two half-covered outdoor terraces, with sweeping dual-aspect views and luscious citrus plants such as yuzu and lemon. Order a drink and soak in views of the iconic snow-capped Mount Fuji; this landmark inspired Bulgari’s vintage brooch in 1972, created to celebrate the long-lasting connection with the country and now acting as a symbol of the Hotel.
The Bulgari Spa
Occupying 1000 square metres of the 40th floor, the hotel spa has nine treatment rooms, including a spa suite and two double treatment rooms, plus a 25-meter indoor pool with a majestic view of the skyline through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Augustinus Bader’s wellness treatments and products will be available, along with other beauty and grooming treatments, thermal and bathing experiences. A fitness centre specialises in the WORKSHOP GYMNASIUM signature bespoke training method: a results-driven approach that redefines the very concept of well-being.
Two dramatic Bulgari Ballrooms on the 40th floor, stretch 180 square metres with triple-height ceilings and are capable of catering events for up to 100. The two are separated by a glass niche and a pine tree and like so many areas of the hotel, boast wonderful views. Also on this floor is a Wedding Salon with a wedding planner on hand and a 110 square metre Terrace Room with a geometric pattern wall inspired by the diamond cut design, which is perfect for ceremonies.
