Returning to his roots, acclaimed Andalucian Chef Dani Garcia has created Tragabuches Marbella, a contemporary venta or tavern, which reflects the evolution in his culinary journey since he opened the original, award-winning Tragabuches in Ronda. This contemporary restaurant retains much of the spirit of the original Tragabuches while embracing a fresh, family style, introducing a new generation to modern Andalusian cuisine.
The Marbella location is west of the city centre, close to San Pedro, in a modern building that affords a spacious, creative layout with an elegant, pared-back design that is warm and welcoming, including a central bar featuring a display of market fresh locally prized produce.
An evening starts with crafted cocktails, and we can personally recommend the margaritas.
The menu is thoughtfully curated highlighting favourites of Dani Garcia, dishes that have become modern icons, where García’s culinary philosophy and creative presentation pay homage to traditional Andalusian recipes. Classic tapas and sharing plates like Ensaladilla Rusa / Russian salad are elevated with a creamy flavoursome mayonnaise and Ibérico ham topping.
Signature dishes are highlighted, making it easy to navigate the menu and make the best choices, including the Fois and Goats Cheese Millefeuille with Apple. Another classic is of course the Spanish omelette and here Chef Dani Garcia makes a humorous reference to the national ‘debate’ or whether to enjoy it made with or without onion, by serving his creamy tortilla with a sophisticated onion sauce. Cod /bacalao is a favourite in Southern Spain and here the cod fritters are a delight. Meat is prepared with finesses including the Presa Iberica – a well-balanced piece of pork. Puddings are varied but try the house cheesecake – it’s legendary.
