Takashi Murakami has continued his collaboration with a second unique piece designed for Swiss watchmaker Hublot, the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow watch. With only 100 numbered pieces, this artist’s smiling flower will be a sought after creation.
This unique timepiece has a 45mm diameter case cut from sapphire crystal, a feature pioneered by Hublot. The transparent design allows you to see the intricate mechanic crafted by the watchmakers in Nyon, alongside Takashi Murakami’s vibrant work.
The three-dimensional smiling flower displays 12 colourful petals that rotate around the watch face. The polychromatic effect is created by setting 487 stones representing the colours of the rainbow; rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, yellow and orange sapphires.
The movement of the petals bring the work of Takashi Murakami to life with an ingenious ball-bearing system specially developed by Hublot’s engineers.
Combining horology with Japanese artist’s Kawaii, Hublot once again celebrates its signature Art of Fusion. Takashi Murakami’s creativity and the technical mastery of the Swiss Maison come together, giving birth to a work of art in the colours of the rainbow.
